Local Rules

Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green -

  • When a player's ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment
  • The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3, and 20-1
  • This Local Rule applies only when the player's ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental

Provisional Balls -

  • It is strongly recommended that a provisional ball be played for a ball that may be lost outside of a water hazard; or may be unplayable; or may be out of bounds; or may be lost
  • Exception:  #9 @MC - Hit a provisional ball before establishing if ball is lost in hazard
  • Exception:  #12 @SR - Hit a provisional ball before establishing if ball is lost in hazard

Environmentally-Sensitive Area (ESA)  @Saddle Rock -

  • A player who plays a ball from an environmentally-sensitive areas will be assessed a 2-stroke penalty
  • If the ball is NOT in the environmentally-sensitive area, BUT the area interferes with stance or the area of the intended swing, drop within one club length of a point of nearest relief, not nearer the hole, without any additional penalty

Waste Areas vs. Sand Traps (@Murphy Creek) -

  • Waste Areas DO NOT have rakes in them In waste areas, the player may ground the club - when done, smooth ground with feet and/or club
  • Sand Traps DO have rakes in them In sand traps, the player may not ground the club - when done, smooth ground with the rake provided

Out-of-Bounds and Lost Balls -

  • If there is any doubt, a player should play a provisional ball (at time the original ball is hit) from the position of where the original ball was played.  If the provisional ball is used the player will be assessed a penalty of 1 stroke.
  • There is a 5-minute time limit when looking for a lost ball
  • If more than one player's ball is lost, players involved will look for each lost ball simultaneously
  • If the player DID NOT hit a provisional ball, then he must go back to the position of where the original ball was played and re-hit, with a penality of 1 stroke.

Unplayable Lies -

  • If there is any doubt, a player should play a provisional ball (at time the original ball is hit) from the position of where the original ball was played.  If the provisional ball is used the player will be assessed a penalty of 1 stroke.
  • In the event that a ball is deemed unplayable: 1) The player may drop a ball within 2 club lengths of the unplayable ball, not nearer the hole, with a penalty of 1 stroke;   OR  2) If the player cannot get relief within 2 club lengths, the player can drop as far back as he wants, keeping the point of the unplayable lie in line with the flag stick, with a penalty of 1 stroke
  • If the player DID NOT hit a provisional ball, then he must go back to the position of where the original ball was played, and re-hit, with a penality of 1 stroke.

#18 1-Stroke Penalty if a ball goes into the environmentally-sensitive area;
use ball drop located on west side of hazard
